Celebrating Progress

As the new school year commences, we are kicking it off with a celebration. Through our training and mentoring program, teachers have been learning the skills needed to teach their students how to read and write. This month, we awarded 27 teachers with certificates to celebrate the progress they have made. Through hard work and dedication, they have mastered the first level of the phonics program and their students are able to sound out words.

The journey of our teachers has been one of collective effort. The Impact One Education Team has worked alongside the teachers, providing them with training, mentorship, and educational resources to help them implement new skills in their classrooms.

In respect to this phonics program, Teacher Grace happily remarked, "It's not just teaching, it's fun. We are involved, and the students are involved."

During the celebration while giving a speech to recognize the teachers, Director Emmanuel also took time to recognize the unique approach of Impact One that has enabled this success. "Not only do you train and support the teachers, but you also follow up on their progress." He also highlighted the significance of Impact One building offices within Ng’ombe, which enables us to understand the schools’ unique challenges and come alongside to address them.

We are thrilled to celebrate the success of our teachers and to recognize their commitment to providing a life-changing education. But this celebration is not the end, it’s only a pit stop on the journey we are taking together. These awarded teachers will continue to receive mentoring to help them master more advanced skills in teaching reading and comprehension to their students.

And because of your incredible giving in December, we've added 20 more teachers to our mentoring program where they will receive one-on-one support to help them master the foundational skills of the phonics program as well.  Soon, we'll be having another party to celebrate them!

As teachers are equipped with skills and resources, the learning standards improve throughout their classrooms. And as children learn to read at an early age, the doors of future learning, possibilities, and hope swing wide open! Thank you for raising up a generation of readers by investing in their teachers!
